Black Friday (Originally posted on Facebook Nov 27, 2011)

We have recently experienced another "Black Friday" where people have gone to great lengths, including harming each other, to find and buy "stuff". This Christmas season was initially built upon the ideas and teachings of Christ who taught love, patience, humility, and kindness to one another. I believe beneath this shift in focus, during the holiday season, is an ever increasing desire to fill the emptiness and void inside ourselves that comes from abandoning the only thing that can actually fill it, LOVE. It is my hope during this time of economic hardships where not a lot of "stuff" can be bought that we take this opportunity to refocus our attention on the important things in life, those we hold dear and the One in whom we truly celebrate, and make this Christmas one filled with memories of love and charity.
