Expectation vs Hope (Originally posted on Facebook Dec 18, 2011)

I have come to believe there is a danger of having "expectations" of ourselves and others instead of "hope." Expectations tend to denote a pass/fail type of situation. It would seem most of the time those we place the expectations on, including ourselves, don't quite measure up which indicates failure. This leads to all sorts of thinking errors about the world around us and more importantly ourselves. If we could replace the expectations we put on others and ourselves with hope, we would begin to see many more positive miracles come about because we no longer "fail" when we have hope. We allow ourselves to continue to strive for our goals with the knowledge that we are okay today as we are and we have not failed because our journey is not over.
