Sunrise, Sunset (Originally posted on Facebook Nov 10, 2013)

I think all too often people miss the many miracles and messages that God sends us because we think messages have to come through large gestures and feelings. I was rushing out the door the other morning on my way to work and happened to look up at the red sunrise that was developing over the eastern mountains. On my way home I'm often treated by the scarlet skies returning as the sun sets over the western mountains. I thought about the transition the sky goes through in the morning and then reversing in the evening. Usually a sunrise starts out with a dark red growing in lightness until it reaches a golden yellow and brightens into the day. In reverse at the end of the day it moves from a bright sky to a golden yellow and on to a red sky until darkness comes once again. It is almost an international truth that red stands for stop and yellow stands for slow down. It got me thinking that sunrises and sunsets are God's way of telling us in the morning to stop, take some time to remember Him and then slowly proceed into the day while keeping Him in mind. At the end of the day He reminds us to slow down, start to relax and don't forget to stop and remember Him and the many blessings we have experienced throughout the day. I believe God speaks to us quite often if we are but willing to look for the simple things in life.
