I wasn't there but I still care

Standing side by side, dressed in black with a staff of white bearing a banner representing freedom flowing in the soft breeze blowing across the field.  The soft rustle of the banner is joined with the soft sounds of tears finding their journey from the souls of people to the surface of their faces and into the world to be joined with the rest creating a river of sorrow.  In the distance shots ring out, echoing throughout the valley and repeating off the mountainsides.  Quietly in the distance a solitary bugle begins the soft expression of a final farewell:

Day is done, gone the sun, From the hills, from the lake, From the skies. All is well, safely rest, God is nigh
Go to sleep, peaceful sleep, May the soldier or sailor, God keep. On the land or the deep, Safe in sleep.
Love, good night, Must thou go, When the day, And the night Need thee so? All is well. Speedeth all To their rest.
Fades the light; And afar Goeth day, And the stars Shineth bright, Fare thee well; Day has gone, Night is on.
Thanks and praise, For our days, 'Neath the sun, Neath the stars, 'Neath the sky, As we go, This we know, God is nigh.

The last note lingers in the air for what seems an eternity before the deafening silence returns, broken only by the soft sounds of sniffing coming from those around me and my own heart.  In respect and without words I offer the support of my heart and soul to those before me, loved ones left behind.  They are now a part of my family, my extended family.  In honor I stand for those who fall because I am a Patriot Guard Rider.
